Jay Baer was born in Lincoln, Nebraska and grew up in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Attending college as a Flinn Scholar, which is a prestigious, merit-based scholarship awarded to 20 Arizona high school students each year. He graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Arizona in 1991, majoring in political science, with a minor in communications.
Jay has been a political campaign manager, a political consultant, a government spokesman, then a corporate marketing exec. When his best friend got brain cancer, he quit his job the next morning to start his own company.
In 2000, when John McCain ran for president, Jay managed his email campaign and built his campaign website. In 2008, Jay founded Convince & Convert – his fifth multi-million dollar venture. He has advised more than 700 brands since getting started in online marketing in 1993. Some clients include Cabela’s, Catarpillar, Infusionsoft, Cisco, Dow, Walmart, Petco, Billabong, Columbia Sportswear, BestBuy, to name just a few.
Jay is also the New York Times best-selling author of five books, including Hug Your Haters, Youtility, and The NOW Revolution. He is considered the most retweeted person in the world among digital marketers, the second-most influential person in content marketing, and a certified BBQ judge.
